SAMPLE GRANT AWARDS

Stand Strength Event- A $500 grant from the Healthy Youth Healthy Senior Fund helped sponsor a Stand Strength Team performance at the 2010 Chippewa County Fair. The Stand Strength Team promotes academic excellence, anti-bullying, builds self-esteem, deters peer pressure, and motivates positive decision making. The event was free, but donations were encouraged and all proceeds benefited the Kim Rogers Memorial Scholarship (held at the Chippewa County Community Foundation) and Kelsey Raffaele Memorial Scholarship (held at the LSSU Foundation).

Girls on the Run- $800 from the Healthy Youth Healthy Senior Fund was granted by the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) to Girls on the Run for running shoes and supplies. Girls on the Run “educates and prepares girls for a lifetime of respect and healthy living” through the power of running.

STARS- A grant of $1000, awarded by the Youth Advisory Council (YAC), was used to fund a STARS dance camp facilitated during the summer of 2010. The camp provided the Eastern Upper Peninsula Dance Students the opportunity to study with professional dance educators and perform with the Children’s Ballet Theatre of Michigan.

  • CAMP 911 was awarded a grant of $120 to assist with the cost of lunches for the participants.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chippewa County was awarded a grant of $1000 to assist the organization with its recruitment and fundraising efforts.
  • Chippewa County Health Department was awarded a grant of $490 for the infant support program.
  • Chippewa County Red Cross was awarded $1000 for the Automated External Defibrillator program.
  • ConnectMichigan Alliance was awarded a grant of $75 to support the effort for every citizen in the state to have the opportunity to serve his or her community through volunteer service.
  • Elks Lodge #552 was awarded grants of $2800 for their drug awareness program.
  • Kinross Charter Township was awarded a grant of $1500 for the Kinross Community Garden.
  • Munuscong River Watershed Association received $400 for interpretive signage along the Munuscong River.
  • MSU Extension received $1875 for the “Natural Helper” and “Teens Against Tobacco” program to be held at the Rudyard Schools.
  • Project Park received a $5000 grant for the Bill Lynn Nature and Recreation Trail at Minneapolis Woods.
  • St. Mary’s School received a $1,392.70 grant for their Physical Fitness/Recreation Program.
  • River of History Museum received a $500 grant for the annual summer history and day camp program.
  • Consolidated Community School Services received a $2,100 grant for recreation equipment for the Rudyard Pool.
  • 2008 Scholarships in 2008 the Chippewa County Community Foundation granted over $55,000 in educational scholarships to Chippewa County students.
